Betula Custodia
Betula Custodia (Asociación para a Custodia do Bosque Atlántico) is a Galician organisation dedicated to the conservation and recovery of the region’s natural, cultural, and landscape heritage. With a special focus on the Fragas do Eume area, Betula works to eliminate invasive species, particularly eucalyptus, and to restore native Atlantic forests through community-led reforestation efforts. As part of Spain’s broader land custody movement, the organisation fosters voluntary agreements with landowners to regenerate ecosystems and promote biodiversity.Life Terra is proud to support Betula Custodia and its commitment to restoring Galicia’s native forests. In the 2024 planting season, we contributed 100 native trees to one of their initiatives in Marraxón, where over 250 trees were planted with the help of dedicated volunteers. The plot, generously offered in land custody by its owner, is now part of an ecological restoration effort to recover biodiversity and resilience in an area historically impacted by unsustainable forestry.
Although we couldn’t attend the event in person, we are grateful to have contributed to this important initiative. We thank Betula Custodia for their tireless work and all the volunteers who helped bring new life to the land. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and supporting more land stewardship projects across Galicia.
