Montado Freixo do Meio
Herdade do Freixo do Meio is a pioneering farm located in Portugal’s Alentejo region, known for its strong commitment to organic, agro-ecological, and regenerative agriculture. Operated as a cooperative, the farm implements diverse practices to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and promote sustainable food systems that are in harmony with nature.In partnership with Life Terra, a large-scale tree-planting initiative was launched at Herdade do Freixo do Meio, aiming to accelerate the farm’s ecological restoration efforts. Between 2020 and 2021, we supported the planting of 15 hectares with a diverse mix of native and productive species. These plantings contribute to the farm’s long-term vision of a resilient agroforestry system, reinforcing its role as a model for regenerative land stewardship in Southern Europe.
