Racines de France
Racines de France is a forward-thinking French organisation committed to ecological regeneration through agroforestry. Founded by Yann Fortunato, the initiative aims to restore soil health, strengthen local ecosystems, and reconnect people with the land. With a strong focus on practical, nature-based solutions, Racines de France supports agricultural and environmental resilience while promoting local economic impact and public health through the principles of "One Health."
On 28 February 2025, Racines de France organised an impactful planting day in Castries, in collaboration with Life Terra and Nat5. Together, they planted 600 trees at the Arches Castriotes site as part of an innovative agroforestry project that has been developing for six years.
The co-benefits of this initiative are tangible: the soil has been regenerated, leading to improved fertility and resilience; pollinator populations have tripled and bird species quintupled; the local economy has been strengthened through the visibility and involvement of local businesses; and ecosystem improvements have contributed to better air, soil, and water quality directly supporting chronic disease reduction under the "One Health" framework.
The pilot involved international stakeholders including Life Terra and Nat5. Scientific monitoring will continue in collaboration with Carbón Emergente to study the effect of biochar on plant growth.
