Soulfood Forestfarms

Soulfood Forestfarms is a non-profit social enterprise based in Milan, dedicated to ecological and cultural regeneration through regenerative agroforestry. They co-create biodiverse, productive, and resilient agroecosystems by engaging farmers, institutions, and citizens. Their initiatives combine ecological restoration with community empowerment, aiming to facilitate the ecological transition of territories and local communities. In February 2025, Life Terra, in partnership with Soulfood Forestfarms, Associazione Gentile, and Amazon Web Services, organized a tree-planting initiative in Mazzo di Rho, a district in Milan. Over three days, more than 400 participants including local residents, students, and 25 AWS volunteers planted approximately 1,500 trees and plants. This effort aimed to enhance urban biodiversity and create a greener, more sustainable environment.
The project featured the creation of a Raingarden, designed by landscape architect Cristiano del Toro, to improve soil permeability, mitigate flood risks, and foster a resilient micro-ecosystem. The initiative also had an educational component, with local schools participating, thereby strengthening their connection to nature.
This collaboration exemplifies the power of community engagement and corporate partnership in driving environmental sustainability and urban regeneration.
Certainly organizations can and should work together today to achieve shared environmental goals because it is important at all levels. From the more locally rooted association that has contacts with the local community to organizations that instead work on a higher level at the national level or even at the European level to be able to create this chain of actors that allows then to implement projects that have a real impact on the community.
