Cascina Romanengo farm reforestation

About the project

At Cascina Romanengo, Life Terra and Semper Silva are transforming underused farmland into thriving forests. This innovative reforestation and rewilding project regenerates soil, enhances biodiversity, and reconnects people with nature—creating a living example of how sustainable agriculture and environmental restoration can coexist. Companies can join this impactful initiative to directly contribute to combating climate change and boosting local ecosystems.

Objective

Restore degraded or hard-to-cultivate land through dynamic reforestation and rewilding using native species and foster ecological, social, and cultural regeneration by integrating biodiversity, community engagement, and sustainable land management.

Impact

  • Social: The project will create new community green spaces and educational programs to promote agro ecological awareness.

  • Economic: By diversifying farm activities and integrating eco-tourism, the project supports local economic resilience. It also enhances the scenic and cultural value of the region.

  • Environmental: Reforesting 7.5 hectares with 6,150 native trees and shrubs will increase biodiversity, improve air and water quality, and reduce soil erosion.

How do we measure this impact?

  • Number of trees planted

  • Number of hectares restored

  • Tons of CO2 eq absorbed**

  • Community members involved

  • Students involved

  • Jobs created

Supporting this project means supporting the following Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Sustainable cities and communities
  • responsible consumption and production
  • Climate Action
  • Life on land
  • Partnerships for the goals

Carbon Dioxide Offsetting Estimate

This 7.5-hectare project is estimated to absorb 133-200 ton CO2eq/hectare.

In total, an estimate of 1,000-1,500 tons CO2 equivalent will be absorbed in a 40-year period.
