Climate Action Awards 2024-2025
We are happy to launch the 4th edition of the Life Terra's Climate Action Awards 2024-2025.
These awards recognise and thank our most committed parties of the past planting season. We want to inspire individuals, businesses, and organisations to step up their environmental efforts.
This year, along with Life Terra's awardees, we introduced two new categories linked to the European Tree Planting Day, an initiative that we launched last year to mobilise Europe into taking climate action, and with what we got to see more than 25,000 citizens planting trees in 19 different European countries.
Congratulations to all the winners!
Life Terra's Awards
As the Most Impactful Global Planting Partner: One Tree Planted
For nearly five years, One Tree Planted has co-funded seedlings for our reforestation projects across Europe. But this partnership extends beyond funding, it includes corporate ESG-aligned initiatives, urban forestry, and employee-led tree-planting events, involving hundreds of people in many countries in Europe.
We want to continue expanding our joint reforestation efforts, as together we can go further.

As the most Committed Organisation of this year: Kikkoman
Kikkoman is a world-renowned company best known for its high-quality soy sauce and other food products. As our partner, Kikkoman pledged to support Life Terra in planting 50,000 trees by 2030.
We kicked off our collaboration in Engelskirchen, Germany, in November 2024 where we planted the first 12,500 trees. Let’s continue to plant trees together to reach that fantastic goal.

As the Most Inspiring Public Sector Representative: Bas Eickhout
As a leading voice on climate and sustainability, Bas has been instrumental in shaping ambitious environmental policies that support a greener, more resilient Europe.
His dedication has inspired many and aligns closely with Life Terra’s mission to empower people and organisations to take meaningful climate action.
This award is to recognise his tireless efforts towards environmental protection. Hopefully his work will inspire other members of the European Parliament and other government institutions.

As the Best Carbon Partner Promoter: Caely Renewables
Caely Renewables is a company driving the energy transition through innovative renewable energy solutions. They help businesses reduce their carbon footprint by offering decarbonization strategies and carbon compliance products.
Caely has supported Life Terra in our journey to offer Carbon Removal and Biodiversity Credits from NBS projects. They have served as expert guidance, as business partners, and as innovators by promoting decarbonization solutions within the Voluntary Carbon Market.
For all of that, we are extremely grateful and look forward to continuing to collaborate in the future.

Most Impactful Agroforestry Initiative: Racines de France
Racines de France finances, develops, and manages forest and agroforestry projects to restore ecosystems and promote biodiversity, soil, water, and carbon regeneration.
Together, we developed an agroforestry project that involved many local and international stakeholders in Castries, near Montpellier.
This initiative was an example of what’s possible when people and nature work hand-in-hand and we hope it will serve as an inspiration to develop more projects.

Most involved Landowner: Marienwaerdt owner - Bernard van Verschuer
Mariënwaerdt is one of the biggest estates in the Netherlands, with more than 900 hectares of land under the Van Verschuer family management. Sustainability is key for them. Its agricultural lands are farmed organically and part of the produce is sold locally.
We’ve been collaborating for almost five years now to increase the amount of biodiverse forests on the estate. Bernard van Verschuer, who currently manages it, has been a driving force in increasing local biodiversity. He even attends many of the planting events that Life Terra has organised to help us and be out in the field with us.
We are delighted by how committed Bernard is to planting more trees and boost biodiverse and we hope to expand this partnership further in the future!

Most impactful community action: The Rain Garden in Rho, with Amazon in Communities
This year, with the support of Amazon through their In Communities program, we developed one of our most impactful urban planting initiatives.
Together with local partners, we transformed a former neglected space in Mazzo di Rho, in the north of Italy, into a living Raingarden to boost biodiversity, improve soil permeability, and create a green oasis in the city. The project brought together many people including residents and a local school, showing how corporate commitment can translate into real benefits. Congratulations!

As the Best Nature Restoration Project: the Santa Clara-a-Velha project, from Antonio Carriço
Santa Clara-a-Velha is located in Odemira, in the south of Portugal. This project involved the planting of more than 65,000 trees and shrubs to restore a damaged area of 55 ha, where we planted 7 native species to boost biodiversity, attract pollinators and increase the presence of local fauna.
Santa Clara-a-Velha has also been certified for carbon removal credits, becoming our largest carbon project in the country. We are grateful for this fruitful collaboration and we hope to continue expanding it.

European Tree Planting Day awards
As the Best Reforestation Initiative: Stepping Stones Forests
As you all know by now, Stepping Stone Forests, based in Ireland, transforms urban spaces with the Miyawaki method, turning degraded urban areas into green sanctuaries.
In line with our mission, Stepping Stone Forests helps people to reconnect with nature throught tree-planting events and this is what they did during the European Tree Planting Day where they involved children from local schools to plant trees in their surroundings.

And last but not least, as the Environmental Education Promoters: Ecoescuelas
The Red Nacional de Ecoescuelas, coordinated by ADEAC in Spain, has supported 44 schools in organising planting events that brought together kids, teachers, families, NGOs, and local governments.
We’re thankful for the involvement of Ecoescuelas in the EUTPD and we hope to grow and expand this movement to other countries.
Thanks for demonstrating the power of education and for inspiring young generations to take Climate Action!

Some of the awards were delivered in person at the Life Terra's Conference and the rest will be delivered by hand to the rest of the winners.
Congratulations again to all the winners and let's continue planting!
