Haarby: Afforestation Project
About the project
In Haarby, Denmark, Life Terra is working with local partners to restore former agricultural land into native forest. This 3,000-tree afforestation project will transform open farmland into a resilient ecosystem, strengthening landscape connectivity and enhancing biodiversity in the region.
The new forest will be composed of a diverse mix of native forestry species, designed to establish a stable, self-sustaining woodland that supports local wildlife and contributes to long-term carbon sequestration.
Objective
To plant approximately 3,000 native trees and establish a mixed forest ecosystem on former crop fields, contributing to Denmark’s reforestation and climate adaptation goals while restoring soil health and natural habitats.

Impact
This project will:
Sequester carbon, supporting climate change mitigation.
Restore biodiversity by creating new habitats for native flora and fauna.
Improve soil and water retention, reversing degradation from intensive agriculture.
Enhance ecosystem resilience and strengthen local ecological networks.
How do we measure this impact?
Number of trees planted
Number of species planted
Number of hectares restored
Tons of CO2 eq absorbed*
