Nice: miyawaki urban planting

About the project

Life Terra is bringing more green life to Nice, France! As part of a 30-hectare city transformation from concrete to nature in the “Grand Parc de la Plaine du Var,” Life Terra will plant 15,000 trees and bushes alongside schools and the local community. This ambitious project will turn former industrial land into a vibrant space full of biodiversity, shade, play areas, and habitats for wildlife — a true living classroom that inspires future generations. Join us in helping Nice reach its goal of “one tree per inhabitant” and strengthen its resilience against climate change.

Objective

Using the Miyawaki method, Life Terra aims to support the city’s sustainability goals, promote biodiversity, and engage local schools and communities in hands-on climate action. Efficient water use through regenerated water and mulching will ensure long-term sustainability and high tree survival rates.

Impact

This initiative will enhance urban biodiversity with over 25 native species, strengthen climate resilience, and improve air quality while transforming concrete spaces into areas for recreation and learning. It fosters community participation, environmental awareness, and a shared commitment to sustainability, contributing to a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient Nice.
